Persistence Of Vision and The Beta Movement

Persistence of Vision
Persistence of vision is a reference to when the retina remembers an image for almost a split second straight after the image has been viewed and then lends it self  to animation by creating the illusion of movement when images are viewed in a sequence in which they are very close together. The skips between images are not noticed because the persistence of vision fills in the gaps with the illusion of motion.

Beta Movement
Beta movement also known as Phi Phenomena is an illusion in which two or more images are read by the brain and surmised motion is created. The beta movement has to do with how the brain interprets information.
