Unit 16 Creating my Pyramid Games Logo

Pyramids Games Logo

For the logo I decided to create a combination logo which is a combination of a word mark and a pictorial logo. As it combine text with an image to create an aesthetically appealing logo. As logos are often made to appear appealing in both colour and in black and white I have made two types of logos one in colour and one in black and white.
Here is my final logo in colour.
Here is my final logo in black and white.

The first step I took to create my logo was Scanning a page consisting of sketches and drafts for my logo onto a computer.

After scanning the pages I then opened them up into Photoshop and used the lasso tool to select a part of the draft that I wanted and then copied that part.

After this I then created a page of the right size to work on. Once the page was created I then pasted the draft piece onto the new page. Once this new page with the draft on it was opened up I decided to lock the background layer.

After locking the background layer I was ready to start working on my logo. The first thing I did was work on the outline of my pyramid I did this by selecting the pyramid layer, creating a path which I called pyramid-left side and using the pen tool to then go over the lines of half of the pyramid on top of my draft. Once the lines were created I would select the paint brush tool, Change the paint brush size to 2

after this I then selected the path I was working on and then press the icon at the bottom which stroked the lines.

Once the path was stroked I used the paint brush to to fix any slight imperfections.

After I had created the lines for the first half of the pyramid I then created a second path which I called pyramid right side for the second half of the pyramid and went over the lines with the pen tool. I then chose the paint brush tool selected the right size and stroked the path.

After this step I was ready to fill in the gaps that had been created from the stroked paths. I chose an appropriate shade of orange to use for the front of my pyramid the (left side) and I then used the paint bucket tool to fill in the gaps.
As I wanted the pyramid to have some form I decided to create some form of shading and I did this by selecting a shade of orange slightly darker than the shade I chose for the left side of the pyramid and I then filled in the gaps with the paint bucket tool.

The next step I took to create my logo was creating the text and I did this by clicking the text icon, selecting the font I wanted alongside the size I wanted the text to be. Once the settings were selected I clicked on the screen and a text layer was created and I chose to type "PYR"
on the first text layer and once I was done typing I placed the text in the right position. After this I decided to follow the exact same steps to created the rest of the word the only difference was instead of typing "PYR" I typed "MID". The reason as to why I did not type a was because I wanted to create the illusion of the pyramid representing the a in the word pyramid. After this step was take I then placed the PYR layer underneath the pyramid layer and the MID layer on top of the pyramid layer to create the look I wanted.
For my black and white logo. The saturation was taken down to 100

Here are some of the references which I used to create my logo
