Eadweard Muybridge

Eadweard Muybridge

Referred to as the "father of motion picture", Edward Muybridge was a photographer. It was some of the photographers first photos that laid the foundation for modern cinema. Muybridge's study The Horse in Motion is considered to be the first ever moving image by many people.

Significance of his photographs

His photos prove that when a horse runs at a high speed all four of the horse's hooves leave the ground. His photographs relate to animation as well as when sequenced together, his photographs create what looks to be like motion meaning that this could be some of the earliest pieces of animation.
