Title of Idea : The Open Days

Plot Outline

The animation would have a linear storyline. It would cover the story of a teenager that is considering applying to a course at THC. The exposition would include a scene showing how after trying a few different courses, she decides she did not like any of them. The character would then decide to visit 1 last open day as she has not had much luck with finding a course that she has liked so far, her first thought whilst doing the course is that it is very boring but within the time span of 1 hour she finds herself enjoying the course and believes she has found the course she wants to do. The last scene of the animation would be of the character becoming a student at THC.

Brief Synopsis / Summary of Idea

The topic of the animation would be media courses, the animation would be 30-45 seconds in duration and  Rotoscoped. Footage will be recorded in front of a green screen and rotoscoped using Photoshop, The backgrounds would then be keyed in using Final Cut, where the scenes would also be edited. The colours used will be bright colours and a variety of different camera angles will be used.

Strengths

The video would not be too long and the animation would run smoothly, The animation would be very simple and easy to understand, The video would also look aesthetically appealing meaning, it would look quite unique and interesting.

Weaknesses

The animation could be time consuming to rotoscope, The animation may only attract a small audience as it may not be found interesting by some people, We would need to incorporate different colleges into the animation and that would not be something we could do as it may be libel towards other colleges.

Evaluation

After discussing with group and teacher, we have decided not to use these ideas as we believe that the animating would be too time consuming meaning, we would not have as much time to edit scenes in Final Cut. This would mean that scenes may not have backgrounds keyed in, scenes may not be long enough in duration and titles and transitions may not be inserted into the production. We have decided some aspects of the story will be used for the animation however, for example he idea of incorporating and open day into the story. Another reason as to why we have decided not to use the idea is because We would need to incorporate different colleges into the animation and that would not be something we could do as it may be libel towards other colleges.
