Zoetrope Device

Zoetrope Device

The zoetrope device is a motion picture projector that consists of a drum, containing a set of 9 still figures that turned in a circular motion, passing through 9 slits which, would then create the illusion that movement was taking place, meaning the figure looked as if it was running whilst bouncing a basketball. As the device turned the slits seemed as if they had disappeared however, they had not disappeared rather the device moves at a speed that make the slits looks as if they have disappeared.  It was originally named the Datelum. The original device was created in 1834 by William George Horner.
